Mission & History

Mission Statement

The Cookware & Bakeware Alliance is a vital housewares trade association, delivering critical industry resources as a voice of authority and influence uniting the industry by setting engineering standards for product and consumer safety.

The CBA promotes the cookware and bakeware industry and help member organizations be successful through:

  • developing technical standards that support quality and consumer safety,
  • providing exposure to the latest industry advances and innovations, market shifts and market information,
  • creating a passion for collegial relationships and networking among our members, and
  • creating awareness of CBA as a consumer resource.

History

The Cookware & Bakeware Alliance was founded in 1922 as the Aluminum Wares Association. It became the Metal Cookware Manufacturers Association in the 1960s, and in the 1970s it changed its name to the Cookware Manufacturers Association in recognition of its representation of all types of cookware and bakeware materials. January 1, 2022 marks the beginning of a year-long 100th Anniversary of the organization with a new name, new look, and new member benefits.

Since its inception, the CBA has served both the public and its members by providing numerous services for its members including standards development, statistical information, research, reports, and governmental monitoring. For consumers, the association publishes helpful information on the selection, use, and maintenance of cookware and bakeware. The association also maintains a brand name index to help consumers contact manufacturers for service.

Elevate Professional Relationships

You are encouraged to collaborate with other professionals in the industry and given a unique opportunity to see a broader picture of the cookware and bakeware industry. Subcommittee teams are the heart of CBA. They advance our shared interests, build camaraderie, create friendships, and elevate professional relationships. Plus, there are leadership positions that encourage people to expand beyond their comfort zone, hone new skills, and prepare them for new positions within the industry.
