Bradley Beach, NJ, Release: January 7, 2022. For Immediate Release.
Founded in 1922 as the Aluminum Wares Association, the non-profit trade association has become the premier resource for the cookware and bakeware industry. In the 1970s, the name was changed to The Cookware Manufacturers Association (CMA) where a renewed mission of developing engineering standards for the betterment of the cookware and bakeware industry.
Over the last 100 years, the CMA had made changes to meet the times and industry requirements. There was a need to update the association’s name to better reflect who they represent and how they serve the industry. The CMA is now the Cookware & Bakeware Alliance.
“Our new name includes both of the incredible markets we represent and honors our history and where we are going,” says CBA Managing Director, Fran Groesbeck.
Bakeware is a critical category in the housewares market. The Engineering Standards were formed for both cookware and bakeware. Encompassing both cookware and bakeware into the name, it’s a true reflection of the industry they serve.
“Becoming an alliance became clear as we looked at what we do and why we do it,” says Groesbeck. “When CBA members come together, we put aside our competitive differences, all with the goal of best practices for the industry to create safe consumer products. At that moment, all our members become allies, one group with an important common goal.”
In addition to reviewing and developing new engineering standards, many updates with membership benefits are planned in conjunction with their 100th Anniversary celebration.
